Cookie Policy and Preferences
Last updated: 22 May 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how BRS, the Business Readiness Scorecard, uses cookies and similar storage and access technologies on the readinesslayer.com website and application, and how you can control them. It should be read with our Privacy Policy. BRS is operated by BIMBI PHILIPS LIMITED.
We use these technologies in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), the UK GDPR, and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, taking account of current Information Commissioner's Office guidance on the use of storage and access technologies.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local and session storage, pixels, tags, and software development kit storage in an application. We refer to all of these as "cookies" in this policy. They let BRS work, keep your session secure, remember your choices, and, where you allow it, help us understand how BRS is used and how people arrive through partner campaigns.
2. How we ask for your choices
When you first use BRS, and whenever you ask to review your choices, we show a cookie banner and a Preference Centre. Strictly necessary cookies are always on because BRS cannot work properly without them. For other categories, you choose whether to allow them. We do not use pre-ticked boxes, and choosing to reject non-essential cookies is as easy as choosing to accept them. We record your choices so we can apply them and show you what you selected, and we ask you again when your choices expire or when there is a significant change.
Some low-risk cookies, such as those used purely for security or for basic, privacy-protective measurement, may be used without consent under current rules, but only for those limited purposes. Where we use any such cookie, we tell you about it here and you can still opt out in the Preference Centre.
3. The cookie categories we use
Strictly necessary cookies (always on)
These keep BRS secure and working. They support core functions such as signing in, keeping your session active, protecting against fraud and abuse, load balancing, and remembering essential choices like your cookie preferences. They do not require consent, and they cannot be switched off in the Preference Centre because BRS would not function correctly without them.
Analytics and performance cookies (optional, used with consent where required)
These help us understand how BRS is used so we can improve it, for example which pages are visited and where problems occur, and they support consent logging. We use these only in line with your choice where consent is required. They are off until you allow them, unless a specific measurement use qualifies as low-risk and is described to you with an opt-out.
Partner, listing, and attribution cookies or storage (optional, used with consent where required)
These help BRS recognise that you arrived through a partner or introducer, a listing platform, or a campaign, using non-personal source, campaign, and segment context, and support partner-safe, aggregate reporting. They are used in line with your choice where consent is required, unless a particular use is strictly necessary to deliver something you have asked for. They are not used to pass your personal data to a partner.
Preference and consent storage
We store a record of the choices you make here so that we can apply them, demonstrate the choices you made, and avoid asking you repeatedly. This record is part of keeping BRS working and lawful.
4. What cookies are never used for
Cookies, local storage, and other client-side browser storage are never used to store raw evidence, private profile data, protected contact data, protected contact-path data, reviewer notes, payment-card details, or other confidential records. These remain protected within BRS and are not placed on your device.
5. Managing your choices
You can change your choices at any time in the Preference Centre, which you can open from the cookie banner, from your privacy or account settings, or from the "Cookies" link where shown. You can also control cookies through your browser or device settings, including deleting or blocking them, although blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of BRS from working. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before you withdrew it.
6. Preference Centre copy
The following is the wording used in the BRS Preference Centre.
Your cookie choices
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep BRS secure, to remember your choices, and, with your permission, to measure performance and recognise partner and campaign visits. Strictly necessary cookies are always on. You can accept or reject the other categories, and change your mind at any time.
- Strictly necessary (always on): needed for security, sign-in, and core functions.
- Analytics and performance (optional): help us understand and improve BRS.
- Partner, listing, and attribution (optional): recognise partner and campaign visits for partner-safe reporting.
Accept all | Reject non-essential | Save my choices
We never store raw evidence, private profile data, protected contact details, reviewer notes, or payment-card details in cookies or browser storage. See our Privacy Policy for how we use personal data.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes to the technologies we use or to the law. We will change the "Last updated" date above, and where the change is significant we will ask for your choices again.
